Holidaymakers heading to
Heathrow Airport on the Heathrow Express rail service will be able to take advantage of a new
e-ticketing facility from this weekend.
From May 31st, travellers can opt to print their tickets at home or have them sent electronically to a mobile phone.
The printed ticket can be scanned on the train, while the mobile option requires passengers to register their internet-enabled handset.
This will result in a text message with a link being sent to the customer, which then allows them to buy tickets on their phones, which can be scanned directly from the handset on the train.
"Heathrow Express is introducing the e-ticketing system because of feedback from clients," remarked George Fripp of Heathrow Express, according to TravelMole.
"Most of our customers are busy professionals who use our service because it is the most convenient way to get to and from Heathrow Airport."
