Popular stag do destinations revealed

The most popular destinations for those heading abroad on a stag or hen do include Amsterdam, Bratislava and Prague, according to one expert.

Anna Makin Made of Designaventure said that Amsterdam is currently enjoying another peak in popularity after being one of the most visited stag do locations several years ago.

Riga and Dublin are also popular for those looking to travel overseas ahead of a wedding, she remarked, going on to note that men are much more likely to head abroad for a prenuptial celebration than women.

"Women don't tend to spend as much as men on their stag dos," Ms Made explained.

"I think that's all to do with ladies liking to get shoes, a hat and a dress, whereas a chap just gets his suit out of his wardrobe that he wore to his last mate's wedding. [Women] would rather spend their money on their outfit for the wedding."

According to statistics released by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 2005, about seven in ten young Britons prefer to go abroad for a stag or hen party.
