Travellers heading to
Edinburgh this summer will be able to catch the very first Edinburgh Comedy Festival.
Launching as part of the popular Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the new event will run between July 30th and August 25th, featuring big names and emerging talent alike.
The festival will take place at Fringe venues such as Assembly, Gilded Balloon, Pleasance and Underbelly and will feature performances by Paul Merton, Ed Byrne, Bill Bailey, Jason Byrne, Jim Jeffries, Barry Cryer and Clive James.
Up and coming comedians set to appear at the event include Sarah Millican, Tom Allen, Matt Green, Sammy J, Dan Nightingale and Tom Wrigglesworth.
"Edinburgh Comedy Festival on the Fringe aims to bring all of our passion and enthusiasm together and benefit everyone and anyone who is interested in comedy - not for the exclusion of everyone else but for the inclusion of anyone," commented Gilded Balloon founder Karen Koren.
The Fringe Festival itself runs from August 3rd to 25th, with stars such as Joan Rivers, Brit Ekland, Jimmy Carr, Ruby Wax, Michael Barrymore, Jill Halfpenny and Jim Bowen set to appear.
