Half of Brits 'cannot locate UK landmarks'
About 50 per cent of Britons are unable to pinpoint the location of some of the UK's best-known landmarks, it has been claimed.
A survey carried out by Holiday Inn revealed that 85 per cent of respondents do not know where the National Space Centre is located - in Leicester - while 64 per cent could not say where Loch Ness is.
While 54 per cent were able to give the location of the Olympic Village, more Edinburgh and Manchester residents could do so than Londoners.
"For a nation with a great history of travel, it's amazing we're stumped by some of our own most famous landmarks," commented Chris Hale, spokesperson for Holiday Inn.
He added: "It's actually pretty surprising how many people got these locations wrong. Brits love travelling around the UK rediscovering our many treasures."
Meanwhile, DK Eyewitness Travel Guides released a list of some the best must-see buildings in the UK last month, including Edinburgh Castle, the Gherkin in London and the Eden Project in Cornwall.
