A number of events and activities will be held in
Denmark this summer to celebrate the country's Viking heritage.
Every weekend from June 26th to August 28th, a Viking city market will be set up in the centre of Aarhus, where visitors will also be able to explore the newly refurbished Viking Museum.
Another date that holidaymakers should keep in mind is August 9th, when the Viking ship Sea Stallion will return to the Danish port of Roskilde.
The vessel has been on display in Dublin and will soon embark on a 1,400-nautical-mile, six-week trip back to Denmark.
To celebrate the occasion, a Viking market will be set up in Roskilde to accompany the re-enactments and other activities that will be taking place between August 9th and 12th.
Travellers with an interest in
unusual holidays can find plenty of things to see in Denmark, such as the Viking burial ground at Lindholm Hoje.
This location just outside Aalborg in North Jutland is the largest burial site of its kind in Scandinavia, with more than 700 graves.
