The emirate of
Dubai will soon be home to a brand new city that will provide a host of new opportunities for travellers.
Set to cover an area of more than 800 million square feet, the city will be based in the desert and will include a number of new landmarks to capture the interest of visitors to the
United Arab Emirates (UAE).
It will also feature more landscaped parkland than
London and
New York combined.
The city has been designed by world renowned architect Eric Kuhne, who praised Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of
Dubai, for his plans for the new project.
"His Highness Sheikh Mohammed should be applauded for his commitment to creating a new Dubai which will redefine the quality of civic life for all the citizens and guests of the Arabian Gulf," Mr Kuhne said.
"His vision can be compared to that of Shah Abbas I who created Nisf-e-Jahan, the elegant 16th century capital of Persia whose parks, gardens and libraries reflected the heavens."
British holidaymakers can catch flights to Dubai from gateways including
Heathrow Airport,
Edinburgh Airport and
Manchester Airport.
