Tourism in
Mexico is set to enjoy a period of growth over coming years following a period of underperformance, a foreign investment expert has claimed.
Chris Chadd, head of research at Property Frontiers, said that the established and popular resorts of
Cancun and
Acapulco are "testament to the potential" of Mexico as a tourist destination.
He added: "Mexico's tourism sector has largely been underperforming and many investors feel that there is huge potential for further growth in the industry.
"Tourist arrivals in Mexico numbered 22 million people last year, placing it firmly within the top ten tourist destinations (by arrivals)."
Mexico boasts a variety of attractions that are enjoyed by visitors every year, ranging from the beaches of the Baja and Yucatan peninsulas to the world heritage sites that can be found in the centre of the country.
Flights to Mexico are available with carriers including
Air France,
KLM and
British Airways.
