Bmi will offer twice as many flights from
Heathrow Airport to
Moscow this winter.
The airline announced that it will operate two daily flights from
London to the capital of
Russia for the forthcoming season to build on the success of the once-a-day service that has been running since October 2006.
Business class passengers are expected to make particularly good use of the new flight, with bmi claiming that it offers the best business cabin available on the route.
Features of the cabin include leather seats with a 50-inch pitch, 16 inches more than with any other airlines offering business class flights from London to Moscow.
Peter Spencer, managing director of bmi, said: "We have been planning to launch additional services between London and Moscow for some time, so are delighted to realise our ambition.
"Since launching the route nearly two years ago we have experienced strong growth and feel introducing an extra return flight combined with our market leading business class cabin we can offer business customers a real alternative."
The additional daily flight will represent an extension to the commercial agreement between bmi and Russian Federation carrier
Transaero Airlines, with the operators providing four flights a day in each direction between London and Moscow.
