Germany to mark 20 years since fall of the Wall
Visitors to Germany next year will have the opportunity to attend a number of events and exhibitions celebrating 20 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall.
People on city breaks in Berlin will be able to attend an open-air exhibition at Alexanderplatz from May to November looking at the historical events that occurred in Germany in 1989 and 1990.
On November 9th next year there will be concerts and a street party in Berlin to mark the date the wall fell 20 years ago.
Other attractions and activities in Germany's capital that relate to the country's recent history include the GDR Museum, the Berlin Wall cycling trail and the Stasi Museum.
It is not only in the capital that visitors can learn about the history of East Germany and the Cold War, with destinations such as Mecklenburg offering numerous museums and exhibitions on the subject.
At the Waldhotel Rennsteighohe in Thuringia, guests can even book an 'experience reality' tour that includes a stay in a former bunker operated by the ministry for state security.
