Singapore Airlines has received its sixth
Airbus A380, meaning it can operate a second daily A380
flight to Singapore from London Heathrow.
The airline received its sixth A380 from Airbus on September 18th following a flight from the manufacturer's delivery centre in
Toulouse,
France.
Thirteen Airbus A380s remain on firm order for Singapore Airlines, with options on another six.
The second daily A380 service between
Singapore and
Heathrow Airport will begin on September 20th, making this route the first in the world to be operated by the superjumbo on a twice-daily basis.
Singapore Airlines introduced its first A380 to full service in October 2007 and since then has deployed the aircraft on its routes from Singapore to
Tokyo and
Sydney.
The airline announced earlier this month that it was reducing fuel surcharges on short- and medium-haul flights following a "recent easing" in the prices of aircraft fuel.
