Leeds-Bradford Airport has revealed figures which reportedly show that it is one of the fastest growing airports in the UK.
The Yorkshire hub handled 345,000 passengers in August, the highest traffic flow it has ever experienced in a single month and five per cent up on last year.
Summer 2008 was a significant period for the airport, as it handled more than 1.2 million customers between the months of May and August.
The most popular services from Leeds-Bradford Airport during this period were
flights to Dublin and
Malaga.
Tony Hallwood, the airport's commercial and aviation development director, said: "Leeds Bradford International Airport continues to outperform the market and takes its lead from the strength of the Yorkshire economy.
"With our route network now at 76 destinations and still growing, the airport is delivering to both business and leisure passengers and increasing inbound tourism opportunities."
Mr Hallwood said that the airport is working closely with a number of airlines regarding expansion in 2009.
