Star Alliance, the airline group that includes
bmi,
Lufthansa and
Swiss among its members, has announced that it has won Business Traveller magazine's 'best alliance' award for the third consecutive year.
These awards are reportedly recognised in the industry as the top honours for the
business travel sector, spanning some 46 categories ranging from airlines and hotels to car hire companies.
Seventeen awards were handed out to airlines, eight of which were given to Star Alliance members, namely
South African Airways and

Singapore Airlines, which picked up six accolades.
Jaan Albrecht, chief executive of Star Alliance, said: "Receiving the Business Traveller 'best airline alliance' award for the third consecutive year is continuing proof that Star Alliance continues to be the airline alliance of choice for the international traveller.
"My thanks also go to employees of our member carriers for delivering the Star Alliance customer promise across the worldwide network."
