US Airways has announced that it is to launch flights from its base in
Philadelphia to
Birmingham next year.
The carrier will begin operating daily flights to
Birmingham Airport from May 12th, followed by a service to
Oslo in
Norway that will launch on May 21st.
Birmingham will be US Airways' fifth destination in the UK and Ireland, with flights already operated from gateways including
Manchester Airport,
Heathrow Airport and
Gatwick Airport, while Oslo will be its second Scandinavian flight location, after
Stockholm in
Sweden.
Suzanne Boda, US Airways' east coast vice president of international operations, said: "We're thrilled to expand our presence in the UK with Birmingham and offer our customers their first Norwegian option in Oslo.
"We appreciate the support of Birmingham and Oslo officials, as well as the continued support and commitment of the Philadelphia City Division of Aviation."
The new services will be available for customers to book from October 25th.
US Airways, along with its subsidiaries, operates around 3,200 flights every day to destinations all over the
US,
Canada,
Europe,
the Caribbean and Latin America.
