The tourist board representing the Tirol skiing region in
Austria has confirmed 110cm of fresh snowfall on the Hintertux glacier and said that conditions are reported to be "excellent".
All runs and lifts are now open to people taking
skiing holidays in the Hintertux area, according to the Tirol Tourist Board.
Five glaciers are located in the Tirol region – the Kaunertal, Pitztal, Solden-Otztal, Stubai and Hintertux. All five are now open for the winter.
Visitors can purchase ten-day combined lift passes for €298 (£240) which are valid from October to June and enable 'glacier-hopping' between the five main skiing areas in the Tirol.
Accommodation in the region ranges from four- and five-star
hotels to wooden lodges and farmhouses.
There are a number of destinations that winter holidaymakers can fly to for easy access to the Tirol region, including
Innsbruck in Austria and
Munich in southern
Germany.
