The
Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA) has announced the launch of the Gourmet Card, which offers savings of up to 25 per cent at a number of participating restaurants across the island.
Valid from April 15th to December 14th this year, the card is available from its own
dedicated website.
It provides discounts at dining establishments including Josef's and Simply GiGi on the south coast of
Barbados, the Elbow Room on the island's western side and Brown Sugar near Bridgetown.
Covering an area of just 166 square miles, Barbados is the only country of its size in the world to be the subject of a dedicated Zagat guide.
The launch of the Gourmet Card is part of an initiative to promote the quality of cuisine on the
Caribbean island, which has received support from the restaurant critic Michael Winner.
Petra Roach, the BTA's European vice-president of marketing, said: "We are tremendously excited about the Barbados Gourmet Card, which follows on from the success of Barbados being the only Zagat-rated Caribbean island, and we warmly thank Mr Winner for his fantastic endorsement.
"We take food very seriously, which is why our small island has so much variety and choice."
