Las Vegas, Orlando 'best in America for affordability'

The cities of Las Vegas and Orlando will be the most 'budget-friendly' destinations in the United States this year, according to research by the American Society of Travel Agents (Asta).

To reflect the fact that money will be high on the list of concerns for many travellers this year, Asta surveyed its travel agent members to find out which American destinations are considered the most affordable.

Las Vegas came top of the rankings owing to its range of accommodation and entertainment options, which offer opportunities for bargain-hunting, as well as competitive prices for flights and eating out.

The range of package holiday deals available led to Orlando being voted the second most affordable destination, followed by Branson, Missouri.

New Orleans also made it into the top five as a result of affordable entertainment and discount travel offers, while Los Angeles was included on the strength of its wide range of dining and accommodation options.

People planning to visit the United States this year should be aware that it is now mandatory to register with the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation beforehand.
