Visit Reykjavik for the Arts Festival
Trips to Reykjavik could prove popular in May as the city hosts its annual Arts Festival.
One of the highlights of this year's event will in fact be based all over Iceland as exhibitions are opened at four lighthouses in each corner of the country.
Set to remain open throughout the summer, the art displays will be based at the lighthouses of Kopasker in the north-east, Daltangi in the east, Gardskagi in the south-west near Reykjavik and Bjargtangi in the remote Westfjords.
The Arts Festival itself will run from May 15th to 30th and will feature a variety of music concerts, visual art exhibitions, theatre shows, dance performances and other cultural events.
Iceland's national tourist board also confirmed recently that a new website had been launched to provide information on Vatnajokull National Park.
Vatnajokull is reportedly the largest protected wilderness in Europe, covering 11 per cent of Iceland's landmass and encompassing waterfalls, glaciers, canyons, rivers and other natural phenomena.
