Quarter of a million to jet off from Stansted
Stansted Airport has revealed that nearly a quarter of a million people are set to catch flights from its base over the Easter weekend.
The London gateway said that, with more than 150 destinations in 35 countries including France, Spain, Croatia and Malaysia, it offers plenty of inspiration for people looking for a weekend getaway.
Nick Barton, the airport's commercial and development director, said that travellers who are yet to make plans for Easter still have time to find late deals for their destination of choice.
"We may be in times of economic difficulty, but with nearly a quarter of a million people already booked to travel through Stansted this Easter weekend, there can be no doubt that people still want to take time to get away," he added.
"We're set for a busy weekend and look forward to welcoming everyone travelling through Stansted."
Exeter Airport and Liverpool Airport have also revealed that they are expecting a substantial increase in passenger traffic over the coming days, with both anticipating their busiest weekend of the year so far.
