Flybe has announced that it will extend its range of
flights from London Gatwick to Guernsey this summer.
From June 29th, the carrier will offer an extra weekday service from
London to the Channel Island to meet higher seasonal demand.
With the launch of the new connection, travellers will be able to choose from six return flights every day.
Flybe said that the additional service will help it serve this "key route" as it waits for the government of
Guernsey to upgrade the island's airport, enabling it to host the airline's larger 118-seat Embraer 195 jet.
Chief commercial officer Mike Rutter said: "Historically, airline after airline have abandoned their services to the Channel Islands, but Flybe's bucking that trend with this additional rotation.
"We remain committed to providing affordability and flexibility for Channel Islands travellers and, with six rotations now on this popular route, offer the perfect choice for leisure and business travellers alike."
The regional carrier announced earlier this year that it would be "rescuing"
Leeds-Bradford Airport with a service connecting the Yorkshire hub to
London Gatwick over the summer.
