Continental Airlines has launched a new seasonal schedule of
flights from London Heathrow to Cleveland in the
US.
The service, which has been transferred to
Heathrow Airport this year from its previous base at
Gatwick Airport, began operating on May 2nd and will continue until September 26th.
Up to 175 passengers can be accommodated in the Boeing 757 that Continental uses for the flights - 159 in economy and 16 in
business class.
The connection to
Cleveland will be available this summer alongside Continental's existing flights to
London from
Houston and
New York.
Jim Compton, the airline's executive vice-president of marketing, said that the new service will provide the opportunity for people to travel from Cleveland to one of
Europe's leading gateways.
He added: "In addition to serving London, Heathrow will provide both business and leisure travellers numerous connections to cities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa."
British travellers who fly to Continental's main hubs of
New York and Houston can access its network of flights in the Americas, which includes services to
Sao Paulo,
Vancouver,
San Francisco and
Buenos Aires.
