Seoul Incheon wins World Airport Award
The results of the 2009 World Airport Awards have been announced, with Seoul Incheon picking up the top prize.
South Korea's main hub was named the world's leading airport ahead of Hong Kong International - which has been the most frequent winner of the award in recent years - and Singapore Changi.
Zurich and Munich were the highest-placed European hubs and completed the top five, while Kuala Lumpur, Amsterdam and Auckland also featured in the top ten.
To decide the 2009 World Airport Awards, some 8.6 million questionnaires were filled in by travellers around the globe, covering various aspects of the airport experience.
Edward Plaisted, chief executive of Skytrax, the company that runs the awards, said: "An airport is looking to deliver world-class standards that will persuade customers to want to use it again and achieving this loyalty demands the highest levels of quality leadership consistency.
"It is very clear from the 2009 survey results that Incheon International is setting the current global quality benchmark across these front-line airport service categories."
In the regional sections of the awards, Cape Town was voted the leading hub in Africa and Dallas-Fort Worth picked up the top award in North America.
