Flybe offers mobile phone recycling
Flybe has become the first airline to offer a mobile phone recycling scheme.
The regional carrier announced that it had struck a two-year deal with Redeem plc that invites passengers to recycle their mobile phones using freepost envelopes, which can be picked up during flights from the Flybe Uncovered magazine.
Travellers can also recycle printer cartridges under the scheme to receive reward points, which can be exchanged for flights or access to some of the airline's lounges across Europe.
As well as helping the environment and benefiting passengers, the initiative will earn money for Cancer Research UK, Flybe's partner charity.
Mike Rutter, chief commercial officer of the airline, said: "Flybe is delighted to be working with Redeem on yet another Flybe first.
"We expect our passengers to respond very positively to the opportunity to recycle their old phones and printer cartridges and help Cancer Research UK at the same time."
Flybe is a regional carrier that offers flights to destinations including Amsterdam, Dublin and Paris.
