A new ferry service has been launched linking
Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) to Nansha Port in
Guangzhou,
China.
The connection began operating today (July 14th) in order to boost connectivity between the airport and the Pearl River Delta (PRD).
Taking a total of 60 minutes, the ferry crossing departs from Nansha Port at 09:30 every day and leaves
Hong Kong at 15:30.
People travelling with certain carriers, including
China Airlines and
Japan Airlines, will be able to take advantage of a service allowing them to check in their luggage at Nansha Port and receive it at their final destination.
Stanley Hui Hon-chung, chief executive of the Hong Kong Airport Authority, said: "With global connectivity to some 150 worldwide locations, including 110 international destinations, HKIA is the ideal transit airport for both PRD residents and overseas travellers.
"The new ferry service provides another commuting choice for people living or working in the PRD, allowing them to reach HKIA easily for their connecting flights to different parts of the world."
Flights to Hong Kong are provided by a number of large international carriers, including
Cathay Pacific,
Finnair and
Qatar Airways.
