Qantas takes delivery of fourth A380
Qantas has today (August 24th) taken delivery of its fourth Airbus A380.
The airline now has the capacity to offer five weekly services from Sydney to London using the A380, while the number of flights to Los Angeles will increase from three to four per week.
Qantas launched the A380 on commercial flights in October 2008 and has seen the services become "incredibly popular", said chief executive officer Alan Joyce.
He added: "Our fifth and sixth A380s are also due for delivery by the end of the year, after which we will offer customers daily A380 services to London and Los Angeles from Sydney and increase Melbourne-Los Angeles services from two to three per week.
"Qantas will then operate 17 return A380 services per week between Australia and the UK and US."
Travellers can also fly on the A380 with Singapore Airlines, which was the first carrier to deploy the aircraft on commercial services.
The airline uses the Airbus plane to operate flights to Tokyo, Sydney, Hong Kong, Paris and London.
