Icelandair will today (August 27th) reinstate its schedule of flights to
Reykjavik from
Glasgow Airport.
The flights will operate on a 'triangle' route, with the return service from
Reykjavik stopping off at
Manchester Airport before completing its journey in
Glasgow.
Travellers will be able to catch flights to Reykjavik on Thursdays and Sundays up to September 25th, at which time the schedule will be extended to four weekly services departing on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Icelandair will also provide the option of catching connecting flights to
New York,
Seattle,
Boston and other destinations in
North America via its hub in
Iceland.
Hjorvar Saeberg Hognason, the airline's general manager in the UK, said: "Passengers will enjoy the same warm Icelandic hospitality that they have come to expect, plus experience our new leather seats, interactive entertainment systems and three classes of cabin service."
Amanda McMillan, managing director of the Scottish hub, added: "We are delighted to welcome Icelandair back to Glasgow Airport, with a new schedule that not only offers convenient city breaks to Reykjavik, but also provides improved connections to the United States."
The airport also hosts flights to
Dubai,
Paris,
Copenhagen and other destinations, provided by carriers including
Emirates,
easyJet and
bmi.
