Mauritius 'has never been better value'
Travellers have been encouraged to visit the island nation of Mauritius to take advantage of the destination's affordability.
Adam Hanmer, sales and marketing manager for the UK and Ireland at the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, said the luxury hotspot has "never been better value".
One factor that has contributed to this trend, according to Mr Hanmer, is the increasing popularity of long-haul travel.
"This year has seen a bit of competition with people travelling long-haul and hotels have had to try and price themselves quite keenly so there have been some really good deals out there," he said.
On the general appeal of Mauritius, Mr Hanmer commented: "Most people are very friendly, the food's fantastic, the service is world class so it's hard to fault it really."
Activities on offer in the destination include diving, kite surfing and other watersports.
People interested in visiting can catch flights to Mauritius with Air France, Virgin Atlantic, Air Mauritius and other carriers.
