New flights to Jersey from Bournemouth Airport
Low-cost airline bmibaby has announced its first new route from Bournemouth Airport, with flights to Jersey set to get underway on March 29th next year.
The new service will operate on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays.
During the summer months, bmibaby expects to carry over 24,000 passengers between Bournemouth and Jersey.
The airline is currently the only low-cost carrier to offer flights from the south coast hub to the destination in the Channel Islands.
Managing director Crawford Rix said: "bmibaby is proud to introduce a new route to our flying programme from Bournemouth to Jersey, and we are confident the route will be a great success.
"Plus the development of the new terminal at Bournemouth Airport, which is due to open in spring 2010, will open up even more opportunities for bmibaby."
Rob Goldsmith, the airport's managing director, described the announcement as "great news" and said that Jersey is a "wonderful place to visit".
A scheme was recently launched at Bournemouth offering travellers the opportunity to offset the carbon emissions from their flight.
