Frommer's reveals top destinations for 2010
Travel guide publisher Frommer's has revealed the destinations that it expects to be popular in 2010.
The company said that the list encompasses a mix of "emerging spots, under-appreciated cities and places we think you need to experience before they're overrun by tourist crowds".
People considering a trip to Africa were encouraged to visit Tunisia, with Frommer's describing the areas around Tunis as a "microcosm" of the entire region's charms.
Some European destinations featured on the list, with Copenhagen commended for its environmental credentials and Paris picking up the title of 'reader's favourite'.
One of the most surprise inclusions was the UK's Isles of Scilly.
Frommer's described the islands as "a collection of secluded sandy beaches, Bronze Age burial chambers and rocky promontories" where visitors can try adventurous activities such as kayaking, sailing and windsurfing.
Travellers planning to head further afield next year might consider some of the long-haul destinations recommended by the publisher, such as Melbourne, Mexico City and Salta in Argentina.
