Air New Zealand to launch Sydney to Rotorua flights
Air New Zealand will launch trans-Tasman flights from Sydney to Rotorua tomorrow (December 12th).
The service, which is the first direct link between the two cities, will be operated by a 152-seat Airbus A320.
Passengers on the inaugural flights in both directions will be treated to drinks and snacks at the gate, champagne during the journey and commemorative gifts.
There will also be a special air show arranged at Rotorua to mark the occasion.
Glen Sowry, Air New Zealand's general manager of Tasman Pacific operations, said the response to the new service from tourism representatives, local councils and the general public has been "outstanding".
He added: "The Tasman is a tough market and we need the enthusiasm and support to continue for the service to be a success.
"The launch of the new Central Park marketing campaign will position Rotorua as the gateway to this region and help drive further interest in the direct trans-Tasman services."
Air New Zealand's new flights between Australia and New Zealand will operate twice a week on Saturdays and Mondays until the end of January, when the Monday service will be switched to Tuesdays.
