New Chopin Museum opened in Warsaw
Travellers planning a city break in Warsaw, Poland this year will be able to visit a new museum dedicated to the life and work of Frederic Chopin.
The opening of the new attraction is one of many events taking place in the country and across Europe this year to mark the 200th anniversary of the composer's birth.
Visitors will be able to see the world's largest collection of items related to Chopin, including musical manuscripts, scores, personal belongings and pieces of correspondence.
The archive dates back to 1899, when it was started by the Warsaw Music Society.
Alicja Knast, curator of the Chopin Museum, said the institute has been designed as a "museum for the 21st century that gives credit to Chopin's genius".
She added: "We want the museum to be a universal, inspiring and thoughtful place, corresponding at the same time with the individual needs of the visitors."
People interested in learning more about Chopin can catch flights to Warsaw with LOT Polish Airlines, Aer Lingus, Swiss and other carriers.
