Business travel shows signs of recovery
Business travel has shown signs of recovery, according to new figures in hotel bookings.
Research by Pegasus Solutions, a processor of electronic hotel transactions, revealed that business stay bookings last February rose by 3.59 per cent on the same period last year.
Showing particularly strong growth was the US, which saw an increase of 8.58 per cent, suggesting that more people are taking trips using business class flights to destinations such as Miami, New York and San Francisco, among others.
Mike Kistner, chief executive of Pegasus, commented: "Hotels worldwide have been holding their breath for business travel to recover. February figures are suggesting they can possibly exhale a little.
"Regionally, the challenges hotels face in this recovery are different. The US is still contending with length of stay, which means that corporate travel is occurring, just in a lessened capacity."
The report is based on three billion transactions the company processed during the month for more than 95,000 hotels around the world.
