Dubrovnik holidays not at mercy of the euro, says expert
Holidaymakers have been advised to take a summer holiday to Dubrovnik this year as it is "not at the mercy of the euro", one travel expert has said.
Emma O'Boyle, UK media relations manager for TripAdvisor, advised travellers that because Croatia is not in the eurozone and uses the kuna, the sterling can stretch further in the country.
"This makes Dubrovnik a relatively cost-effective holiday destination for summer 2010 and we expect to see lots of British tourists taking advantage of this over the coming months," she explained.
Accommodation is also cheap, according to the expert. Visitors can stay in anything from a budget guest house to a five-star luxury hotel.
Popular sites recommended by the travel review website include catching the sea views from the limestone cliffs and discovering the "nooks and crannies" of the medieval Old Town.
Ms O'Boyle also suggested that visitors during the summer months enjoy events at the Dubrovnik Festival, which "offers hundreds of musical performances, food, exhibits and parades".
