Southend Airport Seeing Heavy Demand
Extraordinary demands from customers for Southend
It has been revealed that Southend Airport is seeing extraordinary demand from customers, to the degree that discussions are currently taking place to extend the airports portfolio of services to include flights to Rome, Venice and Budapest.
The airport has risen to prominence recently due to the 2012 Olympic Games in London, with Southend providing the an additional travel option for those attending the sporting event. However, many British travellers are opting to take advantage of new flights, with airport owner Stobart Air's Head of Business Development, Jonathan Rayner, revealing that demand for April 2012 easyJet flights had been surpassed expectations.
"On the first day, Southend was the second best-selling airport on the easyJet network. On the second day, sales of tickets from Southend to Alicante were the best selling, outselling Stansted three-to-one. We have to make sure the sunshine routes work before considering more business flights to places like Milan, Bilbao, Venice, Rome and Budapest," Mr Rayner said.
With the airport within easy travelling distance for many British holidaymakers in the South East, the increasing portfolios are set to see further increasing demand. And with Aer Arran also looking to expand services to Irish destinations, people living close to the airport are set to have more travel choice than ever before.
