Long Haul Destinations Popular for Winter Season
Popular destinations for winter
It has been revealed by experts at Post Office Travel Money that price reductions in long haul destinations have resulted in locations including Sri Lanka, Kenya and Dubai becoming far more attractive to holidaymakers this winter. With the Long Haul Holiday Report revealing the up to date holiday costs for nations across the world, British travellers can expect to get more for their money in the 2011/12 winter holiday season in a number of destinations.
Those travelling to Sri Lanka's Colombo can expect a huge saving of 38 per cent when compared with a trip to Thailand. Meanwhile, travellers to Kenya's Mombasa can expect their money to go 19 per cent further than it did in 2010, whilst holidays to Egypt, Dubai and the USA will also see visitors getting more for their cash.
Head of Travel Money at the Post Office, Sarah Munro, revealed "After a summer when the weak UK pound bought less holiday cash in Europe, tourists heading further afield for winter sun can look forward to seeing their pounds stretch further in most long haul destinations." She added that the British pound had risen against the local currency in 15 of 26 long haul nations reviewed by Post Office Travel Money, offering those wanting to get away for some winter sun excellent opportunities to make savings.
