Visiting Luxurious Bali

Bali has been one of the worlds leading luxury destinations for many years now, but there is much to see and do there beyond spending time in the standard resort hotels and the nightlife. This luxury destination is now seeking to remind the world it has much to offer those who have less money to spend and who want to experience more of the local culture.  

There are different options for flights to Bali from the UK. Those who prefer to take their time getting there might want to arrange a stopover in Kuala Lumpur or another up-and-coming destination in the Pacific region.  

In the evenings many people visiting Bali head for one of the bars, restaurants or beaches, but watching the sunset at the Tanah Lot temple is another good option. This is one of the holiest sites on the island and dates back to the 16th century. The temple receives hundreds of visitors each day but it is still a very peaceful place.   

The town of Ubud is located inland and is popular with those who want to do a little shopping. The villages en-route are filled with craftsmen, mainly carving wood and creating furniture and collectables. The villages are a good place to experience the local culture, with the houses decorated with icons and altars so that religion can be celebrated every day. If visiting Ubud, take the time to explore away from the main thoroughfares. There are many hidden gems to be found in the side streets, not only shops but also cafes and artisans workshops.
