Premium Economy to Johannesburg, South Africa

Emirates have increased their number of Johannesburg flights, with the addition of the Airbus A380.

Dubai-based Emirate Airlines have announced that they will begin a daily service to Johannesburg, South Africa, using their Airbus A380 fleet of aircraft. The double-decker planes will complete the journey from Dubai International Airport to Johannesburg in approximately eight hours.

The announcement follows a 12% year on year increase in the number of people flying with Emirates to South Africa. Emirates already has 42 non-stop flights running to South Africa, including flights to Johannesburg.

The addition of the Airbus A380 route will provide passengers with connections to various destinations in Europe, offering faster and more reliable connections than before. Emirates also flies to major destinations including London, Bangkok, Shanghai, Paris, Sydney, New York, Beijing and Hong Kong.

The President of Emirates Airlines, Tim Clark, said: “The very positive trends we have witnessed over the last 12 months will only be boosted by the arrival of our flagship A380 aircraft, which has set a new benchmark for air travel. Our A380 demonstrates the future of aviation – both in terms of passenger experience and environmental sensitivity.”

Mr Clark added that the launch of the aircraft to Johannesburg further underlined the airline's commitment to service South Africa. He said that a very strong demand for the service was anticipated. Emirates have also pointed out that any passengers who want to book a Dubai stopover can experience premium facilities at the destination, including desert safaris and indoor skiing.

With these developments, many travellers from Johannesburg will be prioritising Emirates Airlines over competing services from other major airline companies.
