TAAG Angloa Airlines is based in Luanda, Angola. From here, they fly to over 10 international destinations
Angolan carrier, TAAG, has seen a major upgrade to its fleet, following delivery of a brand new Boeing 777-300ER in June 2011. The preparation of the aircraft, before it could be put into service, has included painting it in the company’s livery, along with extensive testing of its equipment and advanced systems.
The delivery of new aircraft is good news for a company that has traditionally faced barriers to expansion, due to the number and type of aircraft in its fleet. TAAG has already launched a service to Porto, in northern Portugal. The airline is keen to attract the large number of Angolan ex-pats who have made Porto their home. Similarly, many of the Portuguese now living in Angola originally came from the city. TAAG held discussions on the feasibility of introducing such a service, with the Portuguese Civil Aviation Institute, which has agreed to give the airline permission to operate flights on this route. Previously the only route available was between the respective capital cities of Luanda and Lisbon.
