Visitors to Glasgow can enjoy Coloursfest, Scotland’s longest running dance event, which brings together 10,000 clubbers, throws in a few superstar DJs, and creates a spectacular full-on party.
Held annually on the first Saturday in June, the event takes over the Braehead Arena and Waterfront, with dance music fans from around the country descending on the city and partying along the banks of the River Clyde until all hours.
Whatever your dance style or taste in music, there is something for everyone. Trance, house, hard-style, hardcore, and everything in between, can be heard as more than 50 DJs spin tunes throughout six different arenas and venues. Showcasing the very best of new, international and home-grown talent, attendees can check out the DJs of the future in every manner of atmosphere, from unique sweaty spaces to Ibiza-club style.
Once a main industrial centre, Scotland’s biggest city has revitalised itself in recent years with an eye towards culture, commerce, and tourism. In 2008, it was named a UNESCO City of Music, and with hundreds of music-orientated events happening every month, the city is certainly living up to the honour. The ever-increasing popularity of Coloursfest is an example of the city’s success in this regard.
