Aegean Airlines to launch new flights to Athens

Aegean Airlines has announced that it will launch flights from London Heathrow to Athens this year.

The carrier will offer two daily non-stop flights to the Greek capital from Heathrow Airport from October 25th, with departures from London at 12:45 and 17:20.

Both business and leisure travellers are expected to make use of the new service, which has been scheduled to enable good connections with Aegean's domestic network in Greece, which includes flights to Rhodes, Corfu, Kefalonia and Mikonos.

The flights to Athens will be operated by brand new Airbus A321 aircraft in a dual-class configuration, offering a full meal, an inflight entertainment system and a movie for all passengers, as well as comfortable seats and an espresso or cappuccino for business class travellers.

Aegean Airlines is currently being integrated into the Star Alliance network, a process that is expected to be complete by June 2010.

It was recently announced that BAA is investing £1 billion at Heathrow Airport to redevelop Terminal 2, providing a new base for Star Alliance members.
