The Cantabria capital still enjoys growth in terms of tourism thanks to its beautiful beaches
The idyllic capital of Cantabria features the beautiful northern coastline of Spain and its mountains. Although it is an old tourist destination, flights to Santander are often fully booked during the summer season because a many Europeans still flock to Cantabria’s beautiful beaches.
Overlooking the Cantabrian Sea, Santander is a well-planned city and a very clean one too. During the hot summer months, many people fly to Santander but it never gets too crowded.
Playa de la Concha is one of the best urban beaches of Europe. It has a 250metre-long promenade and sitting areas complete with sunshades and sunbeds. This beach, near the marina, is a popular destination for those who live in Santander. Tourists also go to Playa de la Concha but there are other beaches to explore in the area that are equally beautiful.
Playa del Sardinero, on the other hand, features a 1,300 metre coastline complete with a park and a promenade. There are also plenty of restaurants, bars and hotels nearby.
Playa de los Bikinis is another popular beach destination in the area. This is a historic place because only the most daring of beachgoers used to frequent the area, especially during the time when bikinis were introduced as beach wear.
Offering 900 metres of golden sand, Playa de la Magdalena is the beach destination for disabled visitors. The place has boats for hire and also provides mooring facilities.
