The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the largest country in the Middle East in terms of land area, taking up most of the area of the Arabian Peninsular. Saudi Arabia is the third largest Arab country and is sometimes known as "The Land of the Two Holy Mosques" as it is home to both the Mecca and the Medina, the two holiest places in Islam.

The country enjoys the worlds largest oil reserves and this natural resource accounts for over 90% of Saudi Arabia's exports. In fact, the export of oil makes up 75% of Saudia Arabia's government revenue and pays for the country's welfare state. The capital city Riyadh is situated in the centre of the country and has experienced a massive population boom in recent years, from two million in 1990 to approximately seven million in 2010.

Saudi Arabia has some of the best 'unknown' sites of the world, including the Madain Saleh and the Empty Quarter, the largest sea of sand on the planet. Visitors to the Empty Quarter will experience Bedouin hospitality at its finest and possibly even catch a glimpse of the Arabian Oryx, a rare and beautiful animal that makes its home there.

Jeddah is situated on the coast and is judged by some as the most cosmopolitan city in Saudi Arabia. The city has long been a meeting point for traders and has become the undisputed capital of shopping for the country.
