Baboo to introduce Oxford to Geneva route
Swiss airline Baboo is to launch weekly scheduled flights from London Oxford Airport to Geneva. Commencing on 19th December, the new service will operate every Saturday, and will be the first international scheduled service from London Oxford.
The flights, operated by modern, fuel-efficient Bombardier Q400 aircraft, will depart Oxford at 14.05, arriving Geneva at 17.00. Inbound flights leave Geneva at 12.20, arriving Oxford at 13.20.
Oxford is the third most visited city in England outside London, with around 10 million international visitors annually, so the new service is likely to prove popular. The new route is also good news for winter sports enthusiasts in the Oxford and Thames Valley area, since Geneva Airport is a gateway for a number of ski resorts in the Alps, among them Zermatt and Chamonix. Jacques Bankir, CEO of Baboo, remarked "British residents who enjoy winter sports or mountain activities will be able to avoid overcrowded airports when travelling to top Swiss and French resorts."
Baboo is a 'full frills' airline, and fares include a 20 kg checked-in baggage allowance per person. In addition, passengers are permitted to take one pair of skis or a snowboard, plus a pair of ski or snowboard boots, free of charge. The airline launched an 11 times weekly service from London City to Geneva last month, as well as services from Geneva to Marseille and Milan Malpensa.
Passengers travelling from London Oxford Airport have the option to pay a £5 per person fee at check-in, entitling them to priority boarding, and use of the Vitesse Lounge.
