St Patrick's Day festival begins
Over one million revellers are preparing to descend on Dublin to kick-start the city's annual St Patrick's Festival.
The festivities begin this evening (March 15th), marked by the GE Money Oiche, which will be performing acrobatics high up in the air, as 400 drummers stir up the crowds with a Celtic beat.
On St Patrick's Day itself (March 17th) a massive parade will take over the streets of Dublin. Starting at noon in Parnell Square, the parade crosses the River Liffey before finishing at St Patrick's Cathedral.
A host of parades, theatres, fireworks are also planned for towns and cities across Ireland, all sensibly lubricated with a pint or two of the black stuff.
Cork threatens to rival Dublin's festivities in the Republic, while Armagh and Downpatrick are the places to celebrate in Northern Ireland.
