Star spotting in Cannes
May sees the return of the world famous film festival to the French seaside town of Cannes, with film industry folk and fans alike already expectantly awaiting the competition line-up announcements.
The list of contenders for the 59th Cannes film festival Palm D'Or prize, which will be made public on April 20th, is expected to contain the names of films from directors David Lynch, Sofia Coppola and Pedro Almodovar, the Guardian reports.
Famous for its sun, sea and sand, the festival which takes place from May 17th - 28th is expected to be more controversial than previous years and will reportedly open with the world premiere of Ron Howard's film The Da Vinci Code.
The artistic director for the festival, Thierry Fremaux commented: "On paper it looks good, last year was a fairly classic line-up. This year I was to create some surprises."
While the major screenings will all be reserved for those in the film profession, visitors can access some screenings if they are prepared to queue up and wait for passes, but if that fails you can always take a star-spotting stroll along the Croisette or the beach.
