Jazz up your New York trip
Make like a Manhattanite and head up to the upper west side on a Friday between 18:00 and 20:00 local time to experience real New York jazz in the space age surroundings of the American Museum of Natural History
On the first Friday of the month, the Rose Center for Earth and Space is now hosting Starry Nights, a jazz and tapas event which will feature a whole range of American jazz names performing live beneath the spectacular Hayden Sphere.
The event list for the next few months includes jazz quintet, HoJo5 on April 7th, which will be broadcast live on WBGO Jazz 88.3FM, the New Jazz Composers Octet on May 5th and Houston Person Quartet on June 2nd, which will also be broadcast live on radio.
It is also possible for visitors to extend their experimental musical experience with a combined trip around the space section of the museum and SonicVision show, which for a short time is offering two-for-one entrance tickets.
Recently launched in collaboration with MTV2, the cutting-edge SonicVision show combines contemporary music tracks with experimental imagery to create what is described as a "one-of-a-kind computer-generated musical and visual experience".
