Fashion week goes down under
The fashion world and the international style-conscious have their sights set on Sydney, Australia for the last week of April, as from 26th – 30th the annual Mercedes Australian Fashion Week (MAFW) spring/summer 2006-07 collections hit the catwalks once again.
For five days not only does the city host the exclusive invite-only designer shows, but for non-celebrity visitors MAFW also supports a series of public events around Sydney, with performances, special film screenings and photography, clothing and art exhibitions.
In previous years the city's fountains have been dyed pink and a free sound and light show was used to publicly launch the five-day fashion event in Cathedral Square.
The fashion event, which was first established in 1996, is this year to be held at Circular Quay, on the edge of Sydney Harbour, in the historic Overseas Passenger Terminal building, which offers fantastic sights inside and out with panoramic views over the harbour.
