Police presence to increase airport security
Bristol International Airport will be stepping up its security from April with the help of Avon and Somerset Constabulary and a new package of policing proposals to improve community policing and public assurance.
The opening of the new police station on April 3rd, which will be located within the airport's old terminal building, will give both local people and airport visitors access to help and information.
The launch of the new station will also coincide with a new Airport Watch scheme which will increase police presence in the airport and the use of community support officers and the dog unit.
Head of the police operation at the airport, Inspector Chris Ware, said: "The developments form part of a continual programme of reviewing our involvement at the airport, as well as maintaining our links with local communities.
Bristol International Airport, which is one of the largest and busiest regional airports in the UK with flights to 22 countries, was voted the nation's fourth favourite airport in the Wanderlust Travel Awards 2005.
