New Airlines benefits for Pacific customers
An exclusive new agreement between American carriers Hawaiian Airlines and Northwest Airlines will give increased benefits to travellers flying from the mainland USA to the Pacific islands.
The joint announcement on Thursday stated that the two companies had signed an exclusive inter-island code share agreement for air travel within the state of Hawaii, meaning that customers can both earn and redeem frequent flier miles travelling on either carrier worldwide.
Hawaiian's vice president of marketing and sales Kirk Smith, said: "Northwest was our first code share partner and this exclusive new agreement ensures their customers will continue to receive the very best service available when traveling between the islands."
Northwest currently flies over 50,000 seats per week to Hawaii from destinations worldwide, including Detroit, Minneapolis, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Osaka.
Hawaiian, which provides 100 inter-island flights daily, has also announced that it is to add an extra evening flight to its daily inter-island schedule for Lihue, Kahului, Kona and Hilo.
