New Yorkers take to the SOFA
June 1st sees the return of New York's summer art festivities, as the opening of the Sculpture Objects and Functional Art (SOFA) exhibition marks the start of the city's fifth annual Contemporary Decorative Arts Week.
The SOFA exhibition, which runs from June 1st to 4th , leads this year's week-long, city-wide celebration of contemporary arts and design on the theme of "Bringing Art to Life", with ceramics, furniture, jewelry and glassworks from more than 50 international art dealers.
Based at the Seventh Regiment Armory, Park Avenue & 67th Street in Uptown Manhattan, the ninth annual International Exposition of Sculpture Objects & Functional Art will open with a benefit gala for the Museum of Arts & Design on May 31st.
Originally established as a public show which bridged the creative divide between fine and decorative art, this year's event will exhibit pieces from Galerie Besson and Clare Beck of Adrian Sassoon, London, UK; Yamaki Art Gallery from Osaka, Japan; and Gallery Gen of Tokyo and New York as well as top ceramic dealer, Galerie b15 from Munich, Germany.
All of the events are open to the public and tickets are available to buy online or at the door of the exhibition.
