The Russian transportation ministry has granted British airline,
bmi permission to begin regular flights between London and
Moscow.
The daily flights between the Russian capital and the UK will service the growing demand for business trips and holiday travel between the two countries.
Transportation ministry spokesman, Konstantin Rubakhin, said that civil aviation authorities from the two countries reached agreement late Thursday which will allow bmi to begin daily flights in the second quarter of 2006 and twice-daily flights in the third part of the year.
Phil Shepherd, spokesman for bmi, said: "We're delighted that after such a long time this has been accepted.
"bmi received a designation to fly to Russia five years ago," Mr Shepherd stated,"however, it wasn't recognised by the Russian authorities until now."
British Airways,
Aeroflot and Transaero have also been given approval to add flights between
Moscow and London.
